This is the most recent of four woodcuts by Baumgartner to enter the museum’s collection, and the first to use color. She exploits the nature of woodcut printing to explore the visual effects of film and video stills, and the manner in which pressing the “pause” button causes disruptive interference, compromising notions of ”truth“ in photographic media.
